How many F1s destroyed so far?

With the Europe and Japan thread, I thought it might be a good idea to get a tally of cars that have been destroyed.
We know:
1 Chris Dawes (possibly not his own?)
1 Bernd Pischetsrider
1 German fellow who immediately ordered a replacement.
So, that's 3 gone by my tally. Am I right?
XP 1 and 2 are no more, right?
LMs are all alive, as is XP LM
GTRs?
GTs are all alive

And if you like, you can also mention the crashes that cars have been involved in:
Rowan Atkinsons - Moderate damage. Repaired
Larry Ellison's - Light damage. Repaired.
Elon Musk's - Light damage. Repaired.
Ralph Lauren's LM - Light damage. Repaired.
Again, we could list separately the GTRs' mishaps.
And the GTR conversions - the Harrod's car, for example, which got a little damage in the nose at that even in Paris last year.

Ron Dennis crashed one, an XP I think, at a race track. (Suzuka?) He had Gerhard Berger on board with him, Gerhard said that he had not laughed as much in all his life!!! Obviously found it very hilarious. (I may still have the article somewhere).
A McLaren employee crashed one, exiting a roundabout. Held on to his job by the skin of his teeth. Had to work all hours to fix it. (I have a pic).
Most chassis that have been crashed get rebuilt!!!

Yes, a lot of cars have crashed. Quite a few of the cars in the US have been in accidents of some kind. Dennis crashed XP5. Ralph's LM had quite serious damage iirc

Most chassis that have been crashed get rebuilt!!!Depends on the amount of damage, surely. I know the German fellow who wrote his off got a new one. And only a couple of parts were salvageable from the old one, it truly was written off. At least, that's the story according to some fairly senion McLaren people.
I believe Ron Dennis had a big "off" at close to 200mph in Japan, while sitting next to a potential customer. But there was no impact. Ron did decide to hand over demos to other people at that point, though. Or are we talking about different accidents?

That was David Clark. I think the customer was Japanese and the crash was at the Woking test track. Aparently they ended up in the golf course next door (if i remember that correctly)

14R might be gone. I posted a pic a while back, but the damage didn't look too bad imo. I thought it looked repairable, but I don't think anyone here has heard of that car again after that crash.

There should be some pics in this thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=374078&highlight=seldorff). It happened when it changed hands from Seldorff to Lauren. There weren't pics showing the car, but of parts of the back-wing.

Please post some pics.
The only pics that ever surfaced of the LM were a piece of the wing endplate and another piece from the rear of the car near the engine cover. I think I have them hosted and will post when I can. See link in bucciali's post
#009 in Australia was another car that was badly damaged and sent back to England for repairs.
Tony Smith's #020 was also damaged in 2004 or 2005 when the owner rear ended someone.

As you can tell from that thread, it seems the person who shared the images we have was not supposed to. It's been quite a while - I doubt we'll ever see anything more.
Car has been repaired by the factory and is back in the USA. I heard the damage was mostly cosmetic and not extensive.

Can someone confirm that the price of Mr.Selldorf`s LM was $2,75 mil?
I find it not so expensive , same price as a shitty FXX.

Wow - that's #003 which was reportedly Ron Dennis' personal car in the early years. I'm surprised you'd even be allowed to live after wrecking that man's car. :lol2:

unless that pic was just used as an example of an F1 as i doubt they would let you have a picture of the actual crashed car (might be wrong though, but i wouldnt like the PR fallout after crashing one if i worked there / owned the business.......)

This is probably the one, as one was crashed on the way to the 94 motor show. I have Clarkson going on about it on video.

Picture looks to have been taken at the scene - maybe by a local news agency. I see damage on the left front corner of the car by the headlamp too.

"...lost control after hitting a patch of diesel at about 30mph."
Hitting a patch of diesel at 30mph and having a minor crash is obviously a heinous crime, and he should be removed from society IMMEDIATELY. In fact, he should have been hanged, drawn, and quartered on the spot so he could learn the punishment for reckless driving :evillol:

"...according to commercial director Creighton Brown." Isn't Creighton Brown the color of #039? Is this some sort of inside joke among Ron Dennis & Gordon or something?
Peloton25
06-13-2006, 10:11 PM
I've long suspected that possibility, or what seems more plausible is that #039 belongs to him.
You'll recall from Driving Ambition that Creighton was one of the four men involved in the discussion at Milan airport in 1988 that sparked the F1 project. I can't imagine he wouldn't have one.
