Does anyone have a turbo. What kind if so, and what kind of hp are you getting from it.

thanx

Nissan maxima's do better with superchargers than turbo's. The stock compression on a maxima is 10:1 so unless you buy new pistons and a intake manifold off a 300zx turbo it's gonna blow the engine. The stillen supercharger on a 95 maxima had 315 hp bolted on to a stock maxima. It costs $3,600 if you get it at www.stillen.com and runs low 14's high 13's with cat-back or y-pipe exhausts.

:hehe: You CANNOT fit a 300zx intake manifold on the Max, new pistons to go below the Max's 10.5.1 compression will run ya at least $800, or you could get VQ30DET internals for around $1800-2000 if you can find someone selling them.... Turbo's are just as reliable as an S/C on the Max, just like anything, you have to take the proper steps to protect your engine before you run high boost levels... The Stillen S/C does NOT make 315 Hp stock, try 230 if your lucky, the stock pulley only makes 6psi of boost. You have to go to at least 10 psi, or a 3.125 pulley to get those kinds of numbers, and after you go to high, Vortech will no longer honor your warranty. The stillen S/C is also plauged by numerous problems with bracket design and oil feed, they really could have done a much better job. Also don't let Stillen know if you have a Y-pipe and auto, they won't sell you a S/C... :( Their are a few people on Maxima.org running turbo's, but I haven't seen them post on this forum...

If it were up to me i'd go with a turbo. They're more efficient. they use existing exhaust to spool a turbine and increase induction as opposed to pulleys. If you have the means and know the right people you trust under your car hood, get a turbo.

PFI has a turbo kit for the 4th generation nissan maxima 5-spd only...At 4psi boost it gets like 260 whp and 280 ft-lbs of torque......at 9psi the guy told me that it was getting 360 whp and 380 ft-lbs of torque...the kit is $4,500 and is bolt on and comes with everything you need.....Don't know anyone that has one yet, but the guy said that they do lots of nissans there.
