Fuel pump?

93 GMC Rally van v8 350 with 135,000 miles. I think my fuel pump went bad. I have replaced the fuel filter and the fuel pump relay. My van still wont start. It turns over but wont start. I disconnected the fuel line that goes into the throttle body and turned the ignition key, no fuel came out. So I think that the fuel pump is broken. Is there anything that I should know before I attempt to replace the fuel pump. Ive never replaced a fuel pump before. I hear that it can be a difficult job.

The hardest thing is that the pump is in the tank, replacing the pump it's self is fairly easy, the tank in and out kinda sucks.
