Hissing from passenger side

Hey everyone, I am new to the forum. I have a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo LS 4WD. Just have K&N Drop in and 35% tint. Recently when running the A/C or the defroster I am having a fairly loud hissing noise coming from the passenger side dash. Is my A/C compressor shot, or could this possibly just be a leak? Defroster still works since I was using it yesterday. Sorry if this has been asked before in the forum, and thanks in advance for your responses.

You are probably just hearing the refrigerant going through the expansion valve. They can be a bit noisey sometimes. You might check your refrigerant charge to see if its low, they will make more noise if it is.
After running the engine with a/c on for a while, let it idle and check the site glass on top of the reciver. It is between the grill and radiator support to the drivers side of the radiator. If it has bubbles (looks white) while idling and on full cool then its low. If its clear then it should be a full charge.

Ok I checked it out, and its still making the hissing noise fairly loud. I ran the engine with the A/C on for roughly 10 minutes on speed 1 full cold. The air conditioning is very cold but still have the hissing noise, I was looking where I thought you pointed out for bubbles, and did not see any. I can't figure out what the problem is, but lets say it is low charge, what would I go about doing then?
