where the hell do you live???? i'm gonna have to visit. it's beautiful. how did you get that shot of the waterfall to look like that? the way the water looks so smooth falling over ther rocks. whenever i try and shoot a picture like that i can't seem to get it.

All of these shots are in southwest Virginia

Both of the waterfall pictures are long exposure times. The one with the moss rock was actually handheld against a fallen log so it ended up being slightly blurry. It's exposure time was about 1 second. The wider angle one was an exposure of about 4 seconds. Those shots are impossible without tripods though.

Love the pictures. They really get me motivated to get my ass in gear and move to Virginia Beach. Living in the LA area for 21 years is way too much for anybody. :shakehead

Well, Virginia Beach is out on the coastal plain, there aren't any mountains. I'm in the southwest, look up Roanoke and you can see the general area where I'm at. Still, Virginia Beach is quite a bit closer than LA.

You can't a vista like this too easily

I'm cheating a little bit, this was actually taken on the edge of the West VA border with VA.

Another long exposure time photo of the Little Otter, here showing off the foliage around the creek. This particular waterfall is not natural, it is the remains of a dam made during the early 1900s to help divert water to a small sluice off to the right of where the camera is placed. The dam today is broken down and the sluice is no long operational but it has left some interesting ruins in the streambed.
