My car is a 92 3.1, im new to chevy and am not for sure if this is normal. the temerature guage runs at about 3/4 then drops back down to half when the fan kicks on. So my fan is working but don't kick on until it reaches the 3/4 line exactly then will cool down back to half then back up? please help.

Just a couple of comments. my son's 94 Beretta(same mechanical as Corsica, uses same service manual) always did this as well. My 91 kicked on the fan at about 1/3, then turned off when 1/4. After 3-4 years we noticed the fan taking longer to kick on but it was kicking on at about 1/2. While having the dealer work on a problem not associated with this we noticed they had replaced some wiring (at no charge) and fan has always kicked on at 1/3 like it was new. My assumption was there was a recall on perhaps on sensors, wiring, who knows. I would not suggest taking to a dealer but what you really need is a way to get an accurate temperature check on the coolant. Might be a bad guage, sensor, possible even the fan sensor is bad. But again, our son's 94 did this and never had any problems. I have a scan tool and it was running at about 195 so it was not overheating. Did not push to see what else it might be as it was not overheating.

Mine used to dance from 2/3 to 1/2 in hot weather but never had any problems.
