I have a 98 aurora and the windows will not let down. I replaced the drivers side switch no luck. The sunroof still operates but all four windows are stuck up. Gas is too high to keep running the a/c please help. Did anyone else ever have this problem. I am getting power to the relay but nothing else.

Actually it is cheaper to run the A/C then to open your windows while driving...this has been proven on Myth Busters on the Discovery Channel!!! Leaving your windows down causes more drag and your engine to work just a little bit harder, now I said a little bit but comparison wise it ends up costing you more money. Just do a seach on Google for how to save gas etc and you will find almost all recommend to run your A/C and not drive with your windows down!!!

As for your problem...are you getting power to the switches? Have you tried all the other switches in the car only to get the same results? To me it almost sounds like a bad relay or fuse somewhere. Unless someone has another idea you might have to bite the bullet and take it in to a qualified service personnel to check the problem out for you. Then if you want to save money do the repair yourself unless they have to rip the car apart to find it have them do the repair. Good-luck!!!

Got it fixed last night same problem as the others broken wires in the door jam. I looked at both sides and they both had them. I recommend every rora owner look at this and get them taped up it will save you a big headache.

driving with your windows down at low speeds 40 mph of less is more fuel efficient than with AC on and windows up. case in point.

AC vs. Windows Down
Revisited in MythBusters Revisited, Season 3, episode 38
Myth statement Status Notes
Running a car with air conditioning on is more fuel efficient than running with the windows down. Busted Tests were performed under varying conditions (55 mph versus 45 mph). Also, the 55 mph test was using a computer to estimate fuel efficiency based on air intake, not actual fuel consumption, and showed A/C was more efficient. The 45 mph test consisted of running the tank until it was empty, and showed open windows were more efficient.

Sounds pretty near 50/50. I love my climate control on medium to long trips, but after work the window comes down.
