Got Fired

Alright so i had my job for a little over 3 1/2 years. Pizza delivery. Now when i was hired (interviewed by the co owner of the store) i explained that from sept-april i bowl in a league so i would need Thursday nights off during that time, and during the summer i played amature baseball so i would need a few more days off in the summer than normal. He was cool with this and said it wouldnt be a problem. Fast forward to this summer. Overall the baseball schedule is only really intense for 2 week. We played around 12 games in those two weeks so naturally i needed alot of days off. I gave my boss a calender stating the days and times of every game also saying i would work anyday i didnt need off. Obviously the calender was to much for him. The days i didnt have baseball i was not working and the ONE day i was suppose to work i had baseball. When i confronted him about it he said, well i didnt look at your schedule.....ok wtf??? Why did i give it to you then? Then he just takes me off the schedule and says nothing. A week later i get my paycheck in the mail.
I wasnt told anything at all about why i was fired. Im kinda pissed off right now. In the time i've worked there in only ONE instance did i not show up when scheduled. Which was because they had no phones so obviously i couldnt get through. Other than that either i showed up or had someone take my shift. I mean the least they could do is tell me why they fired me.

The guy probably doesn't want to deal with it, for whatever reason, a friend of mine ran into that kind of thing when he was a server at Fridays or Friendlies I don't remember. He told them his available days, wrote them down and gave it to them twice, first time they ignored it and scheduled him when he couldn't work, got it taken care of no problem. Then after that they kept doing it and fired him, later when he went for a goverment job, all your history is investigated, they had negative remarks in his file along with a BS problem he had at another job was enough to cost him the job. If they had not lied and put that garbage in his file the other BS situation wouldn't have looked as bad and MAYBE he would have gotten the job.
I doubt your gonna have a problem with getting another job, but you should talk to them to find out why he fired you when he told you he would work with you especially after 3 1/2 years. Add to the fact that your scheduled when your not available and off when you are available. Unless it was like when he needed you most you were not available, friday-weekend and every week, then he shouldn't have fired you for that. But if he can get someone to work whenever he wants and he has you he's going to go for the person available whenever he wants.

I think if someone fired me like that, they'd have to beg to get me back. And I'd still say no.

If they had no phones at a pizza delivery place, how did they take orders?:grinno:

Hey if you want your job back, go talk to the manager about it.
If not, it's time to move on.
It sucks to get fired, especially when it was the manager's fault - after he had told you it was ok.
Manger = asshat.

Damn...it MUST be some good pizza.

Ok, sorry for not replying i havent been home lately and just had time to respond.
About the phones being out that was a one time thing. I tried calling around 2-3 and it just rang and rang. I found out later that they were robbed the night before and they cut the phone lines and they werent fixed until 4. That was a one time thing. That was the only day in the entire time i worked there where i didnt show up, i was at the hospital during a family emergency. I havent called or gone up to talk to them about it yet. Not sure if i will or not. Honestly if they wanted me back i wouldnt even think about going back. Lots has changed in the time ive been there and its just not fun anymore.
The only reason i posted was to vent because i was more angry at how i was fired rather than actually getting fired. I mean, mailing a check to avoid confrontation. Pretty lame if you ask me.

:dunno: worth a phone call to check and be sure...even if the job sucks now after all this, you can hack it for a couple of weeks until you find another/better one.

I'd say fuck them, go there or at least call, they want to avoid a confrontation then give them one. If you really don't give a shit make a scene there if you go to confront them, that can be bad if you in any way want/need a half walf decent account of what you've been doing the last 3 1/2 years for your next job otherwise omit it.
You could just contact them to find out if they are going to trash you should some future employer call them to find out about you, and to find out what your supposed to tell future employers the reason you stopped working there is, 'they mailed me my check and I wasn't on the schedule...so I figured I was fired.' isn't a good answer.

Well im still not on the schedule, a guy from work (that im friends with) called and let me know. I think i might stop up there tomorrow afternoon and talk with them about it. Although from what i've heard they have hired 2 new drivers in the last week. Therefore me not being on the schedule pretty much says im done. Not a huge deal. I was going to quit over summer anyway as i've been looking for a night job to make it easy to work with baseball and everything. I just didnt expect to be fired, oh well. Shit happens, im moving on.

Noticed i said BASEBALL. How many times do you see games at noon during the week? Its amature baseball, not the pros or even minors. Being as the only time we have day games is the weekend it wouldnt be a problem. Its just easier to find a job during the night that way i dont have to worry about baseball getting in the way at all.

yeah, the roads people sometimes have to cover require speeds faster than scooters can go. and with the way some people drive and how many pizzas people deliver a scooter would be a bad idea.

Depending on the state you live in they may not have to give you a reason,Texas is a fire and hire at will state and all they have to say is "your services are no longer needed"
Now you can go down to the unemployment office and sign up for unemployment and they will either have to give a reason or let you draw off of them . This is if you are also paid a wage and not just tips
In most casses it is just better to move on
Wait until you have a company let you go after 7 years and another one terminate you while you are havng surgery that you may not even live through and you had been there 9 years and never missed a day.

wow, 3 yrs on the job, and the boss has a problem with it now? Don't give up those extra activities because of work. imo, you were juggling them well, but your boss wasn't. Having something other than work is really healthy for you, obviously physically, but mentally too.

I don't know why but I find that funny as hell and it's sig worthy. Maybe it's because I could actually picture a guy trying to do that.

Well right now in my life baseball is one of the most important things to me. I know that i wont be going pro and any of that jazz. I do however want to get the most out of it while im still able to do so. So for now im just looking for a job during the day, or nights. I wont be doing anything to do with evening so there will be no way baseball could get in the way.

And you would be wrong. In my 99 ext cab i had 50 pizzas in there. Filled the passenger seat, floor, and the entire bench seat in the back.
Another time another guy and i both delivered 45 pizzas (if your slow that 90 total) to a huge business in the area.
Nice try though.

So what if you're assuming I'm bad at math? Everybody has their weaknesses... I have my math, you have your spelling and grammar.
