I have done the usual and had Auto Zone and Checker check for problems with a scanner due to the check engine light. Both came up w/ the same code: P1253. It says specific to manufacturer. From a little research I see that it may have to do w/ the VTECH system but not sure how to narrow it down. Any experience w/ this code out there? Any help is greatly appreciated.

OK, from a little research:

P1253 VTEC System Malfunction

But before all htat, check your oil level, because:

"The way the VTEC oil pressure switch works is that it is a normally closed switch. The ECM sends a voltage to the switch and expects the voltage to go through the switch to ground. If the ECM reads a voltage on that circuit when the VTEC system should not be operating, it will turn on the "check engine" light and set a code. This code will be a P125(3/9) on a vehicle with OBD-II. So if it isn't reading the voltage going to the ground, then it may think the vtec is activating when it shouldn't be."

Thank you for the reply. Firstly, I checked the oil immediately after researching the code and found it to be full. I maintian it regularly. The links you provided would not open. They said trying to access the photo site from outside the website and would not open. I signed up and still could not view them. :banghead:

I would like to know if you could get me the info you were trying to send another way.

Thank you again,
Les

This is so bizzare but when the post opened and tried to show the pics it still went to the image station 'sorry message' saying trying to access outside the imagestation.com. I have no idea why those won't show up.
:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: .

Thank you for trying again. I may have to bite the bullet and have it scanned w/ a Snap-On scanner that can diaganose the problem further.

Regards
