i have a 1991 goe storm gsi 1.6 dohc 16 valve. 5 speed the car wont start without starting fluid but will run after starting it with the fluid. it will idle at 3 grand and if you hit the gas it will die. I undid the fuel filter and gas came out so it seems its getting gas.i need help. the injectors are good because the ohm resistance is 2, they are low injectors so they should be good.
we thought it was a vacume leak , or a map sensor, idle air control, or fuel pressure regulator help. whats wrong ? how can i ifix?

Have you figured it out yet? Because I am having the same problem with my 1991 Geo Storm, at this point we think it may be the ignition switch. It only starts sometimes and then when its warm shuts off, the ignition switch would shut off if it got to hot and if its not working properly that would explain why it only starts sometimes. This has been a nightmare, it is almost like the car is haunted, no one can figure it out today we will change the ignition switch and let you know if that works, if you have any ideas for me please tell me!!

Hey I figured out what was the problem with my Geo Storm, it wouldn't start and if it did it wouldn't stay running. My problem which I just fixed minutes ago after weeks of headaches, was the ignition module inside the distributor cap, and my mechanic said that nowhere is it listed that that could be the problem the next step would have been the ECU, but some how he figured it out because he was even getting a spark when he tested it. I hope maybe this will help you it is possible it could be the same problem Good Luck!
