Hi
I have a 2000 venture. I was going down the road is started to run hot. I pull over turn off look under the hood. Water was all over the right side under the water pump area. After cooling off i started it up n look to see if i can see where it was leaking. I saw a little leak coming from the head gasket. My question is after putting cooling stuff in it i let it run to see what happen i can let it run for 25 minute then it run start to run hot when u turn it off the water would bubble back in to the over flow bottle. Would run hot like that or is the water pump or tempstat bad it make it run hot? Because there is still water in it after running hot. Like there is no wate going to the head of the motor at all like tempstat is bad or water pump is. Had a intake manifold did in october with a flush n a tune up. I was told to put engine gasket block in it to seal it would it help or do i need tempstat or a water pump?

Thank You

you have to confirm where the leak is coming from. You can have the cooling system pressure checked to confirm if it is the water pump and or head gasket. If the water pump is not leaking, they will have to do a compression check to see if the head gasket is shot. The water pump has a vent hole on the bottom, when the bearing and seal in the water pump is worn out, it will start to leak fluid from the hole under the pump.

start to run hot when u turn it off the water would bubble back in to the over flow bottle. That right there is a problem. What I would do is run it until it warms up and open a bleeder screw. Let the air escape. Then repeat. If you can do this several times and a significant amout of air comes out each time, it's likely a head gasket.
