So I had my camaro running....

and oil was leaking out of the oil pressure switch, well I got that fixed...

but I think it was too late and now you can't even turn it over with a wrecking bar.

So I think I am just going to get a new engine... might as well go ls1 while I'm at it right? Is an lt1 -> ls1 swap easy? I don't want to take on too big of a job because I will need the car to get to work. I'm going to have to sell my other car to get the engine. I can burrow a car from my dad but not for too long.

:crying:

I'm opting for the LT1, what's so great about the TPI?

if he was gonna get a crate GM 572.. TPI would make it a lot more efficient than a carb per se.

lt1 might be a cheaper swap. u can get engine/tranny packages on ebay for a good deal.

you mean a new engine, because stepho has the Lt1 already.

About the 572 TPI lol, I did not know that, but you're right, FI helps a lot. How much I don't know.

I don't know didly squat about TPI, but would it even be able to provide enough fuel for that BB Monster??

What currently is the fuel setup for a 572? we're really going offtopic haha

I don't think I am going to put a 572 in it.

I think I am going to get an lt1 though, that way I can save money, because I won't have to get anything but the block... and whatever else is blown up.

The engine is coming out this weekend so I'm going to have a look at it and see if there are any other options.

My father wants to rebuild it, but it had a tiny crack in the water jacket before, so I'm thinking its probably not going to be worth it to rebuild it.

I will keep you guys updated, thanks for your suggestions.

If you really want an LS1, go for it. We're just saying to save money, you could just get an LT1 again. I'm getting an LT1 because I like the design.

LT's are hott..except for that stupid optispark >_< WHATS UP WITH THAT?

and who cares if you only get 2mpg.. damn, all you need to do is go afst enough and you'll save some gas..
low rpm + lots of torque.. :D

i've seen em TBI too, fule delivery is a matter of choice.

I don't really understand how a leak would lock the bearings up that bad tho. How much oil did you lose?

apparently there is a trail of oil along the roads I test drove it on... (never test drive at night)

When I took the heads off the engine, when I first got the car, the cylinders were full of water and the pistons/cylinder walls were rusted. There was small crack in the water jacket on one cylinder. That cylinder didn't have as much water as some of the other cylinders so I assumed it wasn't a problem. It was a tiny crack.

I'm going to pull the engine this weekend so we will see what damage is done then.

For the record Wrightz28 I don't understand it either, I'm not a mechanic. I guess we will find out tomorrow though.

Are you sure it's not just hydrocked? Take the plug out of the cylinder and then see if you can turn the crank.
