I have a 1997 Wrangler SE. Just recently, when driving notice a "screeching" sound from what seems to be front right, under hood. Now this sound does not happen when clutch is depressed, and obviously increases as the RPM's go up. Is it a belt thing, or something else. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sounds like a belt... You could try some belt dressing.

have a buddy rev the engine while you look under the hood and try to pinpoint where the screeching noise is coming from. it MIGHT be a belt, or it's possible it could be a bearing on a pulley.

go ahead and check under the hood wile a budy revs the engine, as mentioned above. however, since you said this, "Now this sound does not happen when clutch is depressed" I'd be more inclined to think that it's the clutch throwout bearing, and not a belt isue.
