this might sound like a dumb question, but does the 3800 supercharger have a seperate oil "supply"? if so, does it just take regular motor oil or is it a special kind? thanks so much

Yes it does. It contains about 6 ounces of special GM Supercharger Oil which is about two bottles at 3 oz. each.
GM part # 12345982
Easy to do DIY. The access plug is on the supercharger snout. It takes a 3/16" allen wrench. You can use a turkey baster to get the old nasty stuff out.

It is normally dealer or GM/AC Delco authorized parts store/distributor only.
