My mother in law has a 97 Stratus that my wife sold her:banghead: NEVER sell a car to a family member:nono: The car was a big money pit & she sells it to her mom so she can get a SUV:screwy: Anyways the problem with the car is we had to jump start it last month & i took the batt & alt to the parts store & they checked out ok. Put it back together & the car started rough & after starting it 2times it would start but die right away. This past Friday afternoon the same thing. Jumped it, she went to work Friday night. she brought it over Sat morning to look at it. Took the alt & batt to get tested. Same result ok. Put it back together, car starts & after a couple of test starts it starts but dies right away. 3 tries after that it starts but runs rough. She drives home. Sunday morning she calls & guess what IT'S DEAD AGAIN:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: Now she's driving my beater i drive to work & her car is sitting. I'm willing to bet if i disconnect the battery & hook it back up it'll start up again. Any help on this would be great. If i have my way the car will be gone soon.
P.S. Forgot to mention the car was in the shop 2 months ago for valve cover gasket, plugs, wires, coil pack. The gounds & all connections are ok.

Have you had it scanned for a dtc yet? If not, you can cycle the key 3 times in 5 seconds to get it to flash on your check engine light. This is not as accurate as a scan tool, but it will help to identify the problem. The only trouble with telling you an oppinion about the problem is the fact that there could be more than one problem that would cause a problem like the ones you are describing. However, with the battery being dead all the time and it checking out ok, there are a couple possibilities. The first being a paracitic load. If you dont know how to check for one, respond and I'll run through it with you. But as far as the car stalling as soon as it starts, This sounds like a problematic sensor. Hope this helped you out even a little.

I've scanned it already. I've got one of those code scanners. No codes.
