What is seafoam? Whats its purpose? How does it work? How do you use it? Is it really as "magical" as people say it is?

It's technically an "all purpose" engine cleaner, which is supposed to clean engine parts that accumulate sludge and whatnot. You can add it to your gas tank, feed it into your intake, or put it into your engine oil. As with all fuel/engine additives, it doesn't work as well as it says on the box.
IMO, only use this stuff if the car already has problems, using it as "preventative mantineance" is a complete waste. You're better off going to Shell and pumping a tankful of v-power,it's cheaper and probably more effective. One of my buddies was having a misfiring issue, so he poured some into his intake (through the brake booster vacuum line), and the exhaust blew HUGE amounts of white smoke out for about 10 minutes (the whole block was fogged up). It seemed to help the problem a little bit though.

The best cure I have ever found for carbon build up is WOT, and lots of it.
If you still have a problem, prehaps your car has been running rich for a while, and have FIXED the problem, then half a can of CRC carb cleaner sprayed into an exposed throttle body at about 3-4,000rpm willl clean out an engine as well as anything else I know of.
Just be aware that with out an intake system, and when not under load it only takes small thorttle opening for an engine to hit the red line very quickly. And the more performance orintated the engine, the faster it will happen.

the secret ingredient to see foam is too complex to fully discribe, because it took years and years of perfecting the mix of obscure and wonderous chemicals to make such an amazing do-everything substance. But I will try to shed some light on the subject even though if I fully explained it all, your brain cells would probably all pop at once creating an implosion of nuclear proportions.....but for those worried, you might want to stop reading right now and skip my next paragraph.
Seafoam is kerosene with a little coloring added.

Thx my idea was to use it for preventative maintenance................ I already use plenty of the carbon cleaners you can get at the gas station (what a waste that would of been then)
