Iv posted about this problem before now i have new information i have a 1996 cutlass supreme 71,000 3100 when i start it in the morning it will start and then shut off than i can restart and it runs fine. as long as it dosent sit for more than about 8 hours. I put a fuel pressure guage on it. turned key with engine off guage read 15 psi. started car guage read 35 psi and this was once the car had been started.

I left the guage on the car over night came back in morning guage read zero I dont know if it was suppose to hold pressure or not. So this time when i turned key on engine off the guage read about 15 psi . and then i started it and it only got to 30 psi running.

so now it is pump or fuel pressure regulator and i don't know if their is a way i can test the regulator their is no fuel coming out of it. Aw fuel filter was just changed today it didn't help any. any suggestions?

Disconnect the hose to the reg and see what the pressure is.

update

I think i found my problem. well i was checking around because the fact that I had recently got my lower intake gaskets changed had me wondering if that played apart in the fuel pressure and what do u know when i had them done the guy mismatched the fuel lines coming to the rail which cause them to wrap around each other and one of the lines is cinked pretty bad.:frown: I guess I'll get a whole new line.

Well thanks for the replys im almost sure that is whats causing my proble i can't blame this one on oldsmobile, except the fact that this happened because the faulty lower intake gaskets had to be changed in the first place. I'll let you guys know what happens.
