Passenger side mirror on 95 cavalier

During the armouries last get together of the year before we all go off for our summer taskings, my car was parked infront along with the rest of the vehicles, sadly someone decided it was necessary to remove my passenger side mirror. Luckily I found and I see that it's basically the spring that keeps it on the car, but the spring was pulled out. So I am wondering if anyone knows exactly how to feed it through, is there a certain path or do you just put it through wherever?
