2000 Bravada Smarttrac, seat Problems

Hello,
I have tried searching to make sure this is not a repost of any sort if it is i apolagize. My fiancee has a 2000 Bravada

problem #1 The smarttrac does not like to disengage. example: Backing up it is like it hits small bumps & during sharp turns it does the same thing.

Should i change the transfer fluid or is it the differential fluid?

Problem #2 The power seats just quit working the heat warmer still works but no adjustements. Have taken it to a shop and they ripped the seats out and put them back in and couldnt find the problem ($85 down the drain)? Also, the sound that your blinker makes when its on will go sometimes. Have checked the fuses they are good.

Any suggestions

Problem #3 The most annoying one. The drivers side floor (the most) & sometimes passenger side & sometimes rear passenger side flooring will become soaked. Not all the time but just out of the clear blue sky. Have looked underneath no holes & it dont just happen when it rains. When mechanic ripped seats out he said the padding underneath was soaked any ideas what would be causing this?

how are the door seals? Have you checked your coolant level lately? You may have a leaking heater core. Do you have a sun roof? it may be leaking there too. If all of these check out ok, set your video camra up and see if you can catch those grimlins peeing in your backseat.

1. Your system is always on in 4HI autotrac so you have the clutches in the transfer case and there is a bulletin on the vibration in the case. The fluid is blue autotrak II syn fluid and GM says to change, run 100 miles, change again and that should fix - when in reality these cases do fail and are very expensive to replace/repair. See FAQ section.
2. If you have the 8 way seats the wires get cut or short and take the switch out and the remote module too. See FAQ section. Been there done that. As for turn signals posts on mutifunction switch causing that but on 2000 run your VIN and it may be covered.
3. Thats a strange one but agree if you have a sun roof the drains are in the front pillars and your should be able to pour water in the sunroof catch pan and see it coming out above the door hindes (door open) - or you have a door seal bad. You would smell the heater core leaking Dex cool. AC condensor may be freezing and drain clogged so is it happen after AC use?

The only seat section on FAQ's i could find was how to replace a seat warmer but i did find one saying to check all the wires but I thought the mechanic did that. If just one of the modules went out can i replace just it or would it short out both?

I poured a gallon of water over the sun roof and it all ran off. Watched inside and no water came in. Can you elaborate what you mean about the catch pan and being able to see it coming out above the door hindes. I know I probably sound extremely stupid so please excuse me for my ignorance but I do not know what door hindes are. I have smelled it numerous times its not coolant. The only smell is mildew. It has not rained where i live for three days but front driver side feet area is damp. Once again thank you for your help this problem is very frustrating so any ideas are welcomed.

Problem #1, scroll down to the "jerking when backing up" post.
Problem #2 & #3 are likely related. The power seat wiring passes from the dash area, under the drivers feet then up to the seat controls. Because of the standing water, some connections are likely corroded. Pulling the carpet and checking the underfoot wiring is the next step here.
I had a water problem from the cowl drains coming in through the air vents behind the kick panels on my '92 while it was still under warranty. The Tech pulled the kick panels off, smeared some sealant then covered the area with green forever tape.

As to the water troubles. I think it might be the AC drain. Run the Ac on high for a while and see if you get a puddle of water under the area of the firewall. If no water the drain is clogged and the pan that catches it overflows. Ac will run in the winter with the defroster because that is what takes the moisture off the windows. AC is just like a dehumidifer the water removed has to go somewhere. In the case of a dehumidifier a catch pan that needs emptied and with a car AC the drain system to the outside. :bloated:

Sorry, "hinges" think I spelled it right this time. so open the door and see the tube coming out of the pillar - thats where the sun roof drains dump out - at least they should! One on both sides so lubing the door hinges is necessary on these more than others. If the tubes leak may run down the body behind the plastic kick panels.
Dealer (service department) can run for you but only will see if GM did the work.
I have 8 way and when my wire had a short it took the seat switch module out and the FOB/remote module - dealer knows how to find these and test.

If the truck was ever repaired under warranty by a GM dealer, there should be a small white sticker on the radiator shroud saying "campaign #### completed on Date ##/##/####"

If you go to a GM dealer, they can tell you what that campaign number means.

Are the Cowl drains, the hose that runs from the moon roof to the door?

The cowl is the area under the windshield wipers/grill. There are passages that allow water to drain from that area.

Thanks for the response. I shut the moon roof and poured a gallon of water of the glass and opened the door to watch the hose but it didnt look like anything was draining. Its supposed to be closed when i pour the water over correct? We just got hammered by storms with rain of about 1.5 inches in 20 minutes the vehicle was sitting turned off and i checked the floor after the storm and it wasnt wet. Isnt there a drain plug or something of the other for the AC if so any idea where it is located?

Where AC condensation drips from has been a mystery to me for awhile. It looks like it drips from 2 or 3 differents places in the same area under the AC box at the bottom of the firewall/passenger side. I haven't found a hose or any curious shaped device yet.
I know of no plugs to drain the box.
Maybe someone who knows will tell us.

AC condensation occurs on the bottom of the evaporater which is usualy located near the blower fan. In my 92 it's in the housing right next to the blower motor on the engine side of the firewall with a tube that drains it to the engine compartment. I have no idea on the 2000, but find the evaporator housing and see if you can clear the tube with a piece of wire or other probe. a quick google found nothing on the bravada, but the jeep cheeroke runs the tube into a frame channel of all things.

You might also want to check the drivers side door drains, if the're plugged up the water has to go some where. Might be the cause of your problem.

And this summer just remember there is no such thing as cold, only an absence of heat. I can hardley wait, you can always put on a coat but you can only take off so much clothes.:iceslolan

Okay now i have a new problem:
Service engine light came on and the computer code says P1870 transmission:banghead: ! Anyone have any idea what it is and what to do other than take it to the GM dealer.

No puddle occurs after sitting running or driving so I will venture you are correct however I have look everywhere and can find no drain hose for the AC does anyone know where it is located or if there are even multiple ones?

The P1870 DTC is Transmission Component Slippage Detected.
Have the transmission fluid and filter changed soon...this even supercedes the wet floor problem.

Copy, goes into the mechanic tomorrow. I am going to ask him if he can locate the drain for the A/C condensor if he does i will post it. Also, I am going to have him check the front hub assembly.

Good news for once!
Regarding the Tranny:
Mechanic said he has had success with changing the tranny filter & fluid (something about adding some additive) and it taking care of the problem.
Soaked Floor:
Water problem hopefully is solved. I had him check the A/C drain hose and it was clogged. He left for the day so I will have to call him tomorrow to ask him where it is located.
Hub Assembly:
He told me the passenger side is going bad if i didnt have the cash not a big deal to have it changed but the driver side was shot and wasn't safe. He said the wheel would actually wobble when up on the lift.
All said and done Tranny, Water problem & Driver side Hub = $351.00

Now I just have to figure out why the power seats quit working. Hopefully one of the wires wore through.

Son of a gun. Bravada wouldnt start yesterday so I tried some stuff and came to the conclusion the fuel pump went out. I didnt hear it turn on so called the mechanic he came and picked it up and just called to let me know the positive cable on the battery was bad and it was leaking acid b/c the turn signal switch/ 4 way flasher caused it to i dont know overload. I have heard the darn thing for a while now but wasnt to concerned but obviously i was wrong wish the dang thing was covered for a recall but mechanic said nope. $195 for switch plus labor plus cable plus battery $398.00 :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

And to top it off the Engine light came back on after he thought the tranny flush would fix the slippage.

What's the trouble code?

Under the rear of both front seats is a connector with a blue and a black pair of wires. They go to the power seat/lumbar support device and the insulation can get worn and ground out inside on the seat frame...it happened on my '97.
The interior lights would blink and door locks lock & unlock going down the road if someone was in the passenger front seat. I set a comfortable lumbar support then unplugged the connector on both front seats.

Wow mechanic calls said well chad you were right it is the fuel pump now the thing is it is $385.00 we can take the switch out and save you $200 and replace it with the old one. I said okay i wanted to tell him that is what i told you it was so she picks it up today and bam $710.00 later the piece of *&^^ is on its way home
