i have a 1985 4x4 Carbed 22r pickup. About 4 months ago it started to idle rough and act like it wasnt running on all the cylinders. i thought it might be a air/fuel mix prob, so i had a spare carb so i tossed it on and it ran better than ever until saterday morning when i was heading on to shift at the firehouse when i got on the gas to pass a semi and it backpopped and started to run just like it did 4 months ago... speratic idle, dies if no gas... is soemthing clogging my carb?
any help would be excellent!
Thanks in advance

I wonder if you can swap in a fuel injection system. Fuel injection is 100 times more reliable than a carburetor. I know this would be a lot more expensive, but you would have a lot less trouble in the long run. You could have a clogged fuel filter. I'd change that and run some cleaner through the gas tank. Both those carburetors probably just need a rebuild.

thats a good idea but i need to fix this first i think... i need to get to the firehouse =)
i think its a vacuum leak or something to do with that... its just he low and thats terrible. High rpm's is fine

Check the egr, air filter, vaccum lines etc.. Systematically go through the simple things check the distr., cap, rotor and wires.
