I had my 98 gtp on the computer & they tell me that the traction control module isn't responding, (no power going to it) the don't no if it's the module or a wire broke some were. Does any one have any segestions. What is the name of the traction control module I'm looking for, he said it's under the dash. Thanks

Is it just traction control or are there any ABS problems?
Power comes from the engine compartment fuse box, the ABS fuse for the ABS and traction control system. The GP has a electronic brake and traction control module. (EBCM). It is located under the left hand side of the dash.
The 12 volt input to the module needs to be checked to determine if it is the module or wiring to it.

The abs light was on when he checked it & he said the abs & sensors are working but no power going to the traction control module. Is their any way I can check the power going to the module with a votlage tester or is their something else. What am I looking for under the dash, can I reach it under the dash or does the dash have to come apart.

Yes, a multimeter is best. The logical starting point would be in the engine compartment fuse box. You can use any good ground for the black lead, but preferably at the battery negative. Check the condition of the ABS maxifuse. If OK, then measure at the fuse socket for 12 volts DC. If missing then you will back track which will take you to the ignition control circuits. If present then forward to the module. The ECBM is accessible by removing the left side kickpanel. I'd have to check for the pins on the connectors if you do not have a GM Grand Prix Service Manual.

I don't have a shop manual. Do you no were you can download one. Thanks for the help. When I remove the side panel is that the only box their if not what is on it or what does it look like, how many plugs on it.

I talked to you about the car losing power. You told me to check the abs fuse, i took it out & cleaned it, put it back in & the abs light was still on. Today I went out with the voltage meter, their was no power, I wigled the fuse & got power. I got in the car to move it & the abs light now goes out but the traction control still doesn't work.

The EBCM is located on the far left hand side. The connectors will be visible from the bottom. The body control module (BCM) and daytime running lights (DRL) module are next to it. So you should see three distinct modules on that side plus some components that look like relays.
I don't believe there are any sites where you can download the wiring diagram. Send me a PM email and I can send you some info on the ABS and traction control system.
