ok so today i decided to start stripping my engine, and remove the head i found 2 bent valves on cyl number 3, my uncle kept telling me to try to put in new valves, but i think it would be too hard, so i'm gonna start looking for a new head, but i was thinking this. 1g head comes with bigger intake ports i'm not sure about the exhaust ports, i was like, would a 1g head bolt on to a 2g block(bottom part, where the cylinders are)? would it be a good idea to use a 1g head with 1g intake, 1g TB and 2g elbow?i took some pics too, i'll upload them later, anything else you guys recomend i should do now while everything is out?

Doing new valves should be too hard but a machinist would have to do the valve guides. I do think doing the 6 bolt head swap is a good idea, but it takes quite a bit of time and work. Search around, you should be able to find stuff on here about it. Timing belt would also be a good thing to do, as well as ARP headstuds and new head gasket.

The easier of the two would to just replace the two bent valves. Valves aren't that hard at all to replace, but guides are a little tougher (if they need replacing). A 6-bolt heat will fit on the 7-bolt block, but it's not as easy of a mod as you would think, people run into wiring and electrical problems quite often when doing the switch.

and i wasnt sure about the cams, since i found like 5 heads on ebay withouth cams or valve drivetrain(sp)? i only found 1 for 6 bolt.

I don't get what you're saying. Are you asking if the cams are the same or what? I still would just replace the bent valves and reassemble it. :2cents:

(hopefully, i hate dial up)

one more q?, what are the holes on the block for? not the ones where the bolts go, i noticed they have coolant.

The pistons look fine to me. Those holes are coolant passages for the coolant to flow between the block and head.

Take it to a shop and have them do a valve job on the head. It's relatively cheap.
