How do you remove the window handle on the doors without breaking them?

you need a special tool thats used on most (maybe all) GM vehicles, the one i got costed $5 new at the local auto parts store, some people say you can do it with a wash rag or carefully with 2 flathead screwdrivers but ive never had any luck with those methods....

Rag worked for me. The clip goes from the handle side of the crank, so you gotta work the rag that way otherwise it won't catch on the clip. Screwdriver never worked for me because the space was just too tight to fit even a small screwdriver in.

use a flathead screwdriver and go buy sumtin wit the 5-15 bucks u saved. its a horseshoe clip (or whatever the technical name for it is) and all u gotta do is get under it and pop it up...the tool is useful if you take ur door off ALLL THE TIME...but a screwdriver will do the trick just as easily and with less money spent

The screwdriver won't work on all j-bodies because on some the space is just too tight to fit a screwdriver in, even if you push against the door to make more room. A knife would probably work better.

i do believe that a knife wont fit under the clip...the clip is fairly small, mabye a small butter knife or sumthing
all you need is sumtin flat, thin, and if your lucky...has a little hook on the end of it

I agree.
Until you actually do it thou, it is a PITA.
Once you do it, it's like riding a Bike. Easy as all he11.

I made a homemade tool out of a piece of coat hanger. Take a pair of pliers and bend the end into a 90 degree angle. Nip off the excess with wire cutters so you have about 1/8" to 3/16" sticking up to catch the horseshoe clip. Push in on the door panel to allow access and visibility of the clip. Hook the end over the clip and pull it off. Note: The slang name for this clip is the "JC" clip, because when it comes flying out and gets lost on the ground you will yell "Jesus Christ!" BTW they sell them at any parts store, sometimes in the "Help" packs.

yea then right next to the clip in the help rack is the tool and you'll never loose a "u" clip ever again
