trunk light

The cargo light in the trunk of my 97 Contour stays on all the time. I had to disconnect the light to keep it from running down the battery. After letting the light sit in my glove box for three years, I've finally decided to fix it. Any ideas where the problem could be?

The switch maybe out of align or dirty.
