a flashing OD indicates a tranny problem, have the codes pulled, the vehicle should be OBDII, check the basics fluid level, color, and smell

It could be as simple as your TPS. Mine did this once after working on my car only to realize that I forget to connect the TPS back up. It caused my car to idle real high before switching gears and then it would slam into the next gear. At the same time my OD light would flash. Just a thought worth looking at.

I had this same problem. My fix was that my engine had next to no coolant at all in it. Added some water and it was good to go.

Welcome on your first post.
As said check for codes and check engine and transmissions fluids over.
A flashing light can point to a miss fire to.
How many miles since last tune up?
If you can get codes and post back code no.
And what engine and transmission.
Also a tip on finding a good repair shop.
Check around Ask around
Word of mouth.
Family friends coworkers neighbors business people and delivery people.
Mailmen and parcel delivery people get around and notice a lot of stuff.
Even a good parts house knows what shops are good and not good.
Chamber of commerce and better business bureau and city hall.
If you find a good referral to a repair shop go look them over and talk to them.
Look for a clean looking busy place with nice people running it.
Ask a few questions and ask about their qualifications and training.
Not all places have trained tech/mechanics.
If they do not find a place that does.
Even all dealers do not have all trained techs/mechanics.

Hi, If the car has all the gears, 1,2,3,and 4od, The problem is MOST likely the VSS(vehicle speed sensor}, Sometimes this happens with no codes present. Good Luck, Clay..
