Hello All. My 1995 Mustang is doing some strange things.... I was driving home & the car started shaking, I called hubby who was ahead of my in his truck & we both pulled over. He opened the hood & the engine was shaking violently side to side. We decided to head for Auto Zone... while in route my A/C stopped working. Hubby also noticed a strong "rotten egg" smell coming from the exhaust. Auto Zone hooked it up to a diagnostic machine, and said the plugs were bad. Well 6 plugs ( I think:lol: ) & a set of plug wires later, the car is not any better. Any one have any ideas????? :banghead:
THANKS

Rotten egg smell is normally your cat going bad or melted. See if there is much exhaust coming out the tail pipe.

You can take a long piece of metal and a hammer and smash the honey come looking stuff, and clean it out, and the car will run better, well at least on my Fox mustang it did :)

Sounds like your cat is clogged. The fiberglass inside them breaks down over a period of time and is known to cause this problem. If its bad clogged then the motor could be "shaking" due to exhaust being backed up and possibly venting thrue the intake. This can and will lead to more serious problems if not fixed now. This is a common problem with alot of 80's - 90's vehicles with smog equipment. The cat converter is a bandaid that became an industry standard.
