is the automatic trans in a 98 civic computer controlled? i have a 96 civic dx with a manual trans. can i put an automatic out of a 98 model in it using the existing wiring harness or does the automatic have additional wires going to it? thanks for any info.

I think you'd have to change out the ecu. And I think it's a different wiring harness too. And you'd have to get a new gauge with the automatic gear lights. And why change to an automatic?

The automatic trans is an elecrtronically controlled type, so you'll need the trans controller for the computer in order for it to work.
And why change to an automatic?
I agree, there's no real point for changing to an automatic. The auto is a lot slower, and gets worse gas mileage. Manual trans, espically on Hondas, are really smooth and easy to drive.
