93 into 95 motor swap

Recently got some info that a 93 w motor would work in a 95 jimmy, I was told all I would have to change is the air intake, distributor, and timing chain cover, As you well know and I found out, this is not the case I have now received info that the crankshaft needs to be changed to accomodate the sensor timing gear. Need to know if there is another alternative before I swap out crankshafts.

Also, found out the 95 has two sensors on the left side of the head and the 93 has one. Also the 93's oil pressure sensor is on the back of the engine , and the 95 has none. the other sensors go in their positions. need some input on this also. Thanks.:banghead:

Ok, I've done this, here is the deal...

The 95 certainly has an oil pressure sensor, same place as the 93

If you are swapping the 93 VIN W motor into the 95 where the ECM is on top of the coolant recovery bottle, then the following from the old motor needs to be swapped to the new motor and only the following...

Lower intake (because it's keyed for the distributor)
Distributor
Reluctor wheel (on front of crank)
Timing chain cover (btw this is a good time to throw on a new timing gear set if you want)

Move one knock sensor to the driver's side block, and the one on the passenger side.

The 93 has two knock sensors, 1 is on the passenger side head... You won't use that one.

If the 93 has the metal valve covers, just for esthetics, I would move the composite plastic ones over to the 93 engine...

There are no difference in the 93-97 engines (as long as they are VIN W Vortec motors) If you're doing a TBI to 95 CPI change over, then yes, you would have to change the crank as well as the fuel system setup.... There isn't anything other than what I listed above for the 93-94 to 95 swap

If the ECM in the 95 is under the dash, then all you have to do is simply swap the engine directly over, make sure both knock sensors are hooked up, time it, enjoy
