Relieving fuel pressure

Hello...I think I'm going to try to replace the fuel filter on my '96 Grand Am 2.4L. It sounds like the easiest way to relieve the system pressure is using a fuel pressure gauge with a bleed-off valve. If I'm going to buy one of these, what do I need to look for? Do I need the exact part number that GM says (J-34730-1)? Or can I get a generic one with certain specs?

I pulled the fuel pump fuse, then started the car. Does a nice job, no mess in the engine compartment. You will still spill a little fuel when you remove the filter, it holds around 1/2 pint or so, just catch it with a bucket or something like that. Also make sure you have the right tools for it, my 95 requires a special tool to get the fuel line off one end of the filter.
