ok i need some input on what would be better some 6x9s or 6.5s. I'm going to make a small "wall" with 4 6x9 or 6.5 behind the 3rd row in my XL but im not sure what would be better. I will prolly run these off a 4x55wrms @ 4ohms hifonics. So what sound better and what brands and models(around $100 eBay price)?
Thanx

I know the 6x9 will have more bass to it. Larger area means more displacement. So if you are wanting a boomy thing with my knowledge I would say 6x9s. As far as brands I'm not the best at that.

I dont know from experience but I would think that the 6.5's would sound better because of the symmetrical cone. A round speaker makes better sound witt less distortion because the pressure on the speaker is even everywhere, unlike an oval shaped 6x9 speaker. My 2 cents.

rather have 6.5's.. but why do you need a 'wall' of them anyways?

On realmofexcursion.com there is a video of a wall of 6x9's that hit I think 165 dB.

No there are 6.5 speakers on the market that can compare with 10inch subs. 6x9's where a cheap solution to get low frequency in vehicles from the factory, 6.5" speakers produce cleaner sound. Im sure fryman, ng or paul can recomend some good brands that sell some powerful 6x9's. ANd yes why exactly do you need a wall of speakers.
Yes while larger speaker cone moves more air, get midbass 6.5" speaks and you can create some nice deep bass, if your going for more of a sq then get components. What exactly are you aiming for.

He posted once before about what he should do. Someone suggested doing a wall instead of his original plan. Don't remember what it was though.

Well i dont want a big wall just 2 additional sets in the back and i don't want them for bass. I guess i will go wit some 6.5s. look how big my yukon is and with only 6.5s in the doors its not very loud. Mostly its all bass with the SoloX 12 i have in the back. So i'm just trying to get clean voice too

you want mids/ighs to come from beind you? not a good idea.
Look into cheap componets fron CDT or Type-R 6.5's if you must go through with your plan.

I appreciate your guys' help but really im not getting anywhere. I guess a "wall" is a bad idea and having speeakers in the center console is bad too. What about 2 6.5 is the front doors?

why don't you just get a nice set of components for the front? that should work well for you.

Multiple componets in the doors will sound alot better than behind you in a wall.
do you want Co-Axils or componets
also, are you proficent with fiberglass? if so i would reccomend a custom door panel with a 3 way componet set, like an 8", 6", and ribon tweeter.

IF he is proficent with fiberglass i'd reccomend going 3way and going with ribbon tweeters (smoother) if you have the money...for the price of 2 good 6.5" componet sets you can build your own 3way componet set :)
