My 89 Buick Lesabre needs a new Harmonic balancer. My mechancic says its a $200.00 part. I found it online for $85.00 But I need to know if its forward or rear drive on the car. How can I tell which it is.
Thanks

I think he wants to know whether the car is FWD or RWD...I think...
As a LeSabre, it should be front wheel drive. If I remember right, Electra/Park Avenues, the LeSabre's C-body cousin, had a RWD version which would clarify why the mechanic would ask, assuming the mechanic hasn't looked at the car.
A new harmonic balancer should be around a $100 (so $85 online plus shipping would be about right). But unless you happen to have a large breaker bar or a 1-inch impact wrench, I don't suggest you try to replace this part on your own, especially if you don't have much experience tinkering with your car.
