Why Relay Why????

I just got my brand new fuel pump relay, and it's a brand new fuel pump relay but it's not the one I took off and threw out. I've been sifting through garbage pails until I decided I oughta get a new one anyway but I have a few questions that possibly only GOD could answer but I'm letting you try.
1. What are those three relays next to the driver's fender and on the firewall for? one I know is the FPR. This is so I know what the heck to replace the one I tossed with.
2. Why did my fuel pump turn on when I had the actual FPR out BUT It didn't turn on ever when I had the relay closest to the fender out? Is it possible that those connectors were switched and that's what's been screwing up my Fuel delivery?
3. What is the meaning of life?

There are 2 realys for the MAF, one is the burn off and the other is the MAF power itself. The one in the middle is the fuel pump (the regulator has nothing to with it)
The F/P should be interchangable with one of the MAF ones, but not the other.

So what do you think I should start by doing because I'm in the dark and missing one relay.

OK, you kind of lost me there in your interpretation. Obviously you'll know when you found th fuel pump one, because the pump will prime up. I don't remember which MAF relay is interchangable with the pump, I want to say the burn off. So with that one out, it should still turn over and run. The burn off only comes on AFTER the motor has been shut off to clean the MAF sensing wire.

Alright, what I'll do is replace the fpr now and try to start the engine.

That's what's killing me, FPR?
Normally FPR means fuel pressure regulator.

Sorry wright, FP Relay, I cleaned up the FP relay's connector and attached the new one. You were right about not needing the burn-off relay? The engine started better than before and stayed on, then I heard the fuel pump working at full power and the engine started choking, when I realized that BLASTED rubber fuel line I put in was crap. Fuel shot out of it and that's when I decided to turn it off.
Wanna tell me what this Burn-Off relay does before I get a new one? or is it the MAF? it's the relay closest to the driver's fender of the 3 relays.
This still may mean the fuel pump is fine or alteast satisfactory but I really need to find a surefire way to replace that fuel line to the filter and get the other relay back in.

Well, simply it's to burn off the sensor wire of any crud that builds up on it. So it's basiclally a a self maintnance mechanism, and IT IS needed.
You have to fix that line up right.

Alright so I need one, HOLD UP, I thought one of the 3 relays was the
coolant fan relay?? so where's the MAF sensor?

The sensor that is right after the dual air snorkel, just before the throttle body.

The fan relay should be in the battery tray area, so its nowhere near those 3 relays

OHHHH...so then..so then what's the third relay with the FP relay and the Burn-Off Relay? I'll look up it's number and see If I find anything. nvm there's no number that I can read. 4 etched digits in the top, like that'll help.

some models do have them on the firewall, don't ask, don't know, just the way it is. According to the manuals, mine is on the fire wall, when in all reality, mine is physically on the core support. Just the same as the manual will say the plug gap on a 85-87 TPI is .045" whne the emissions decal reads and progper gapping IS .035". :dunno:

While I'm trying to figure out the other relay, I found I had a new relay problem. There's 2 relays by my battery that I replaced, one is the fan relay and the other is the cooling fan relay...and they both have brand new 'fan relays' on the connectors. My fault. What kind of problems would this cause?
bingo, they're all MAF associated, MAF sensor relay, MAF fuel pump relay and MAF Burn-off relay. Now, I need to find a new burnoff...

One's a cooling fan relay and one's the AC fan relay. This means there's an AC fan relay on the cooling fan connector.

uh..yes, so nothing's wrong?
Alright, one more question, I swear, sorry for taking up your time. I only found that F-Body Motorsports sells a Burn-Off relay for $16. I tried looking for a cheaper one but nobody else sells the relay under the name 'Burn Off'. Is it called something else or am I stuck with F-body motorsports?

You took it off and now it powers your fuel pump circuit, right? So get a couple of pump relays (so you have a back up on hand when needed).

Yes that is exaclty what I said, BUT you are having a hard time finding the SAME relay for the burn off as fuel pump right? I 'll bet you'll have no problem finding one under fuel pump.

Hey look at that!! my dad was cleaning up and found my burn off relay. Now I don't I have to buy a new one XD
