If they're the same year I would think so. If not look on the drivers side inner frame rail

It Really Depends On What Year Is Your S10. Some Motors, I've Heard, Have Two On The Vehicle: One On The Drivers Side Frame Rail Just In Front Of The Rear Tire, And Another One Up Near The Throttle Body... To Change The One On The Rail, You Can Use A Special Tool To Get It Off, Or I Just Used Two Open Enders On It. Keep A Rag Handy So That When You Pull The Old One Off, You Have Something To Wipe The Excess Gas Off Your Face... I'm Not Sure How To Replace The One Up Near The Throttle Body, As I Had An 84 And They Didn't Have Two Filters.maybe Overboard Or Dm Might Have An Idea On That One.

Like your 84 (unless the year was a tyop) my 85 is carburated, so I really don't know. They usually aren't too hard to figure out once you look at them

NO TYPO, I HAD AN 1984 2.8L V6. I THINK I REMEMBER SEEING SOME WHERE IN HERE THAT IT WAS A PLATE TYPE FILTER, ALMOST LIKE THE RESTRICTOR PLATES NASCAR USES. I THINK, BUT MY THINKING HAS NOT BEEN TOO GOOD LATLEY SO SOMEBODY CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG.....NICELY PLEASE, I'M STILL IN MOURNING.

My 85 is a filter in the carb it's self, and i'm pretty sure that 49 states had the same basic setup.
I don't know what California had, their rigs may have been fuel injected already.
If I was planing on keeping the 2.8L I'd probably add a second in line fuel filter, along with an electric fuel pump.
There was kind of a restrictor plate in the throttle body, but mine disapeared when I did the engine re-build, along with the rest of the polution control junk.

On my '97, the filter is a metal can located in a band mounted to the inside of the frame rail just under the driver's door. Very easy to replace, once you figure out how to undo the connectors. A pair of needle nose pliers works fine. You do not need the special tool which is available.
