Is there a transaxle that came stock in a vehicle that could bolt up to a '78 sbc 350? I'm building a project vehicle, and i'm considering the FWD option. I'm wanting to use a carb, but will settle for some form of FI. I would like to find something with a manual transaxle. I know that something like that isn't going to happen. So, I'm aleady having to settle wih an auto transaxle.

The FWD transaxles from the 85-prior Toronado, Riviera and Eldorado will handle the torque of a 350 Chevy, and although they have the B.O.C. engine bolt pattern, adaptor plates are available to convert them to the Chevy bolt pattern. One issue, (depending on what you plan on putting it in) they are set up with the motor mounted longitudinally (front to back like a RWD car), not transversely (side to side like all other GM FWD vehicles), so you may run out of room under the hood.
