Tokyo Drift

So I'm seeing this ad on here now to see the trailer for the new Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift. Since I don't have cable, does the movie look good? Who's all planning to go see it? I know I will only because of the cars not the acting. Also Bonus No Brian Spilner :grinno:

Those movies make me want to kick babies in the head.


Having said that i will watch it when it comes out on DVD which i'm assuming will be very fast.

They actually used REAL drift drivers in the movie, so the drifting sequences shouldn't be too bad. Now for the acting and story..... that's something else lol.

I'll go see it for sure, I love the F&F movies. Gay acting, gay plotline, but I like seeing the cars. F&F 1 was actually what spawned my interest in imports. I was a pure bred ricer for a bit there, thinking that I/H/E, UPD, and a shit ton of NAWZZZ would get my Cavalier into the 10's. Then I find out what it really takes to get a fast car and now I am a DSMer. I still have some of those ricer tendencies though, I still think neons, massive tachs, BOV whistles, and that "waaaaaaaaaaaannnnnng" noise our exhuasts make are the shit :D.

Just so happens the opening day is 6/16/06 which is the same Friday night we have a DSM/SRT-4 showdown at the local track. Hopefully we will be fairly unbotherd by the ricers who are at the Movies, and will actually have a fast stageing lane!

Eventually I'll be seeing it as a matina'. I have both F&F on DVD. Not so cool to watch after the 10th time, but I like um..

Ya know a fun thing to do on nights that movies like this come out is to put out some lawn chairs and just watch the chaos. Another thing, be sure to check the police reports for a couple of days after it comes out, everyone who reads about some dumb ass in there town that does something stupid on that night be sure to report it to this thread so we can laugh in there honor.

I will probably watch it since its about cars. They are really not that many movies out there with imports so I think I will like it. I hope its not as rice as the last one.

I might watch it at home for the first day, and might went out in the weekent with friend to the theater .

Did you guys see the article in sport compact, they actually drove the cars from the movie. They converted some evos to rwd. I'm definietely seeing it. Hopefully my car is done by then (if i even have the parts) so i can analy destroy some homos who want to race after the movie.

thats the problem with the F&F movies is they try to make a plot line just show the damn cars doing what those kind of cars can do

Ha yeah cop chase videos are always the best. I have seen a lotus vs cops and the lotus hits a straight road and magically disapears off into the horizon. I also saw a ss impala run from the cops and it was burning them untill he ran out of gas. A buddy of mine gave me statistics something like 60% of the people who run from the police get away, about 25% get caught, and about 15% wreck. I dunno how accurate these are but, it makes sense. Not like the police are going to brag about how they lost a car during a chase.

As for the fast and the furious movies. The plots are for sure garbage and so are the cheesy lines. "What up cuz?" "I live my life a quater mile at a time. For those 12 seconds or less, nothing else matters." Owell if the 3rd one has an evo in it I'll will almost deffinatly be watching it.

I think it's more like 95% get away. But i think it depends on the definition of running away, i've had a couple times where i see a cop way back turn his light on and i just pull off to a sid road, is that running? Once tey get your plates you're done cause you can run all you want when you get home you'll have some new friends waiting for you.

Well I have a sister-in-law that works for one of the BIG movie distributorships in the country...so I got to see it. It sucks ass. There's some cool drifting sequences but nothing that you can't find better of on the web being done by non professionals right on the highways and byways.
Of course, it's not hard to guess which american car manufacturer got the rights to have their car in the flik...but then...here's a spoiler, so if you really want to see this thing for the plotline...excuse me while I laught...don't read this: they use a new Mustang and because it's such a great car they swap out a skyline chassis/engine for the fud engine...OVERNIGHT. WITH JUST ONE GUY WORKING ON IT. Bro'.

Also, the main actor is this jackass american guy...in Tokyo...which is really LA...not ONE main character is Japanese...all supporting roles. And I'm sorry, but for this kind of stuff, Japanese actors are the shyt! I mean, the coolest guy in the first flik was the bad Japanese guy! They had the coolest bikes, the coolest cars and the hottest women!
I saw it. Nothing special. But, go if you must...it'll just encourage them to make more of this shyt instead of a really GOOD movie about tuning and drifting. ^ As for the movies, they serve a more important purpose than just your entertainment. Without that first movie, aftermarket support wouldn't be half as much as it is today. Because of all the people who jumped on the bandwagon, aftermarket companies got off of their asses and started making more stuff for our cars. Competition drives the prices down (sometimes quality too though :mad: ) and that is a good thing. I guess you'd still be buying stuff from japan if all that hadn't happened. After hearing numberous people say it was a good, I went and saw it last night. Honestly, it wasn't bad. There were some cheesy scenes and all (what movie dosn't have them?) but overall it was pretty good. The cars they used were TITE AS HELL but I don't understand why they used an EVO for drift....they had so many other cars to choose from, and they picked a car that was naturally AWD and made it RWD. :screwy:

Also, there were about 839,025 hot girls in that movie. Made it that much better. :sunglasse

i saw it last weekend and thought it was the dumbest of the 3. My girlfriend doesn't know shit about cars and even she knew how stupid it was.
