I have a 1996 buick skylark with back window motors that burn out after every 3 to 4 years. I have had GM replace these in the past. I had one go out last year and I stopped putting it down. Now yesterday the other went bad. Does anybody know what the deal is with the back windows? The car is only used by me and not even on the week ends. So the windows are not getting abused. How hard is it to replace these by myself?

There are some Chilton manuals and Haynes manuals on Amazon (dirt cheap too) that have the procedure for changing the motor. The only sticking point is that you have to use a pop riveter and a drill to remove the old rivets. I have a '95 Skylark and I have a slow drivers side window motor I replaced once and it's due again.
Who designs these things? Do you have the old water leak in the firewall soaking your passengers-side carpet too?

I do not have the water leak yet anyways. I keep looking for it though. The good thing is that Mine stays in The garage except for when I go to work. Its only a matter of time until it starts. Have you heard anything about 95,000 crank shaft break. I have 72,000 miles on mine guessing I will be there in another year.

I haven't heard a thing about the crank shaft breaking at 95,000 miles.... I have 104,000 miles so maybe it's much ado about nothing.
I also searched for recalls but I saw nothing about it.
