I just bought a 92 civic dx hatch, which has a blown head gasket, I am looking at replaceing the gasket, or buying and installing a d16y7 from the neighbor, i am new to hondas but not to cars/mechanics the d16y7 comes out a 2000 civic DX 4door, is it a straight swap, or will I have to rewire it, is it worth the work for the increase in HP the 92 civic has a d15, also the d16y7 is an auto will I have to buy a new comp for the d15 manual tranny, or will they even mate up, also will a header from a d16y8 fit on the d15, as far as i have read the D motor block is a standard and the intake / exhaust from a larger motor should fit on a smaller one.

if the d15 in your car is DPFI (dual point fuel injection) you will have to wire it for MPFI (multi point fuel injection) The d15 manual will mount to the d16 engine, yes the header from the d16 will fit the d15, d series are interchangeble with d series components, b series components are interchangable with b series components, but different series components wont match up.

Thankyou for the information,
next question, i am getting the whole car, it was rolled, but it is auto and auto suxx. will the engine bay wireing harnes from the 2000 plug into the chasie harness, we do this on 1.6 16valvs swaps into sammies. and will the the d15 ecu work with the d16 bieng as it is going from DPI to MPI,, and if the ECU has to be replaced, are there seprate computers for the motor and trany, as in suzuki, or will i have to find an ecu for a d16y7 manual ? adding a few wires to a harnes does not scare me, niether does replaceing the head with a vtech head if i could find one for the right price, i have built 6 engines or so of various types, i am working on an olds rocket 455, but it is a bit to big for the honda. ;)
