Quick.. Help.. Jeep towing info, need reply!

Has anyone had much experiance towing with a wrangler yj? I might be buying a 1987 Wrangler 4x4 4.2l I have owned a jeep in the past but never towed with it. I want to be able to tow a little 17" boat annd trailor/motor, probibly around 1500lbs.

My main question is, will it tow it easy? Right now my 2000 kia sportage tows it with a 2.0l 4cylender, but it is slow. Never go above 50mph, and it takes a long time to get to 50mph. Will the jeep handel this a lot better?

You should be fine towing 1500lbs but I would consider that pretty much the upper limit.
Ive never towed 1500lbs with my YJ. The most Ive towed with it is around 1000lbs. My lifted YJ towed 1000lbs very well, on mountain roads to boot. I've towed around 1500lbs with my wifes TJ and it did great. The power wont be a problem. Its the wheelbase and brakes that limit the YJ for towing so even though you may be able to go faster towing, it may not be wise.
