I'm looking at a 92 MPV. I saw in another post that the transmission may be troublesome for these vehicles. What else should I be wary of? It is a 4wd with 103,xxx miles.

I had a 92 and got 260,000 from the original engine and transmission. You be wary of the engine clicking noice. The lifters click on those engines alot and over time become real loud. You will need a head job for the engine. Also there is a oil seal on the rear of the engine by the fire wall. This seals tends to leak alot and to fix this problem is very costly.

Couple other things to be wary of are the thermostat, water pump, and heater core, all of which are serious pains in the backside to work on. First time in my life I've ever seen a two part thermostat housing and a lower engine/bottom radiator hose mount for same.
