Oil pump

I was wondering where the oil pump is located on a 99 malibu 3.1 V6. Is it internal or external. How much screwing around is it to replace it.

It is internal and you will have to drop the oil pan to get to it.

Bigger question is why?

Idk my dad was wondering. He said somethign about the oil isnt gettin to the top of the motor.

He needs to get a pressure gage on the engine and see what is what, the problem would never be simply the pump, something internal is wrong.
