No and No, RB26DETT= Rwd, Maxima is FWD, besides that the trannies wouldn't mate up...

Obviously R34 is rwd. If you got R34 rwd conversion and a R34 tranny, wouldnt it work.

the only nissan skyline engine swap i heard of that worked was a skyline engine in an s6 audi. Need an all wheel drive and i think he had to remove the a/c.
r 34 is awd
r 34 is awd

If your gonna go through all that you might as well have MoSpeed import ya an R34, because it would probably be cheaper... :(

You would have to do so many body frame alterations. The R34 is AWD not RWD. The second you take a turn with the RB26DETT, the mid section will twist. The reason Skyline's dominated british touring races was because the frame actually twists to better make contact with the road. The front end goes fallowed by the back end. It has an incredible syspension set up. Have you ever seen a supercharged RB26DETT. YES, a supercharged twin turbo in line six. You could fit the R33 set up in a 98 240sx. It has been done.

Yes I've heard of the SCed RB26DETT engine I have a pic of it somewhere on a cd there's been a guy who imported an engine from japan instead of an RB26DETT he took a VQ30DET yes a turbo version of the maxima forgot the name for the car it came out of in japan but it took him about 4mounths to get it put in haven't heard yet of how it sounds, acts, or etc...

that vq30 engine comes out if an I30t infiniti. they're rare engines. he must have payed damn near $7,000-$10,000. i bet his car shits on everything. If you could find that picture i'd really like to see it.

No no no, the VQ30DET comes in the japanese Q45, and it will not simply bolt into a maxima. That engine is for RWD, and the motor mounts do not mount up. However, the internals are all the same, so if you want to run high boost, you can get a DET motor for around $2000 (good luck finding one though) and use the pistons, cams, intake manifold, etc... pistons will lower the compression down from 10.5.1 to 9.1, much better for high boost, less chance of detonation. You will then have to build a custom turbo kit, or buy one from PRI in CO for $4k, since the piping from the DET won't fit in the Max engine bay.

the Q45 engine is an 8 cylinder and it's almost a 305 cu. in. it's way too big to fit ithe engine bay of a maxima and it's rwd. .

Yes it is RWD, that's why the block won't fit in the Maxima, however, it's not V8, it's a V6, car's in Japan come with different engine options than here in the good ol' USofA. Sure you can get the V8, but the VQ30DET was also available. It's also called the Cima in Japan, not the Q45. It was also used in certain versions of the Cedric and Gloria. Stock HP is around 280. Looks kinda like this: http://pstr-m01.ygpweb.aol.com/data/008/06/1F/B3/12/FJ6OEKOZ+yZ8qWC4C7P6e4wnF6cfskA40180.jpg You CAN use the pistons, cams, heads, modify the intake manifold a little and it will fit, the crank will fit as well, but the biggest advantage is the pistons, with their lower compression ratio. The crank, rods, and heads are pretty much the same. Nissan microfinishes the cams and crankshaft, and strengthens the rods and all their engines already. The intake manifold has no runners, just one big tube opening to all the cylinders.
:D
As a side note, some guys in Japan recently built a VQ30DETT, and had it making MORE power than the RB26DETT...

This VQ30DETT made more power than a stock RB26DETT... right? I don't see the VQ30 making 1000 hp with any original parts.

The engine was built for a special racing series in japan. With the same setup and rules they got better low end torque, and since the engine is lighter, better weight transfer...

You can't do the swap, you would have to convert to all wheel drive, get a new tranny, change the length of the car, and get new engine mounts. In other words, you need 40,000 dollars.

ok, first off, just get (for any RB awd-rwd conv.) a rb25 rwd transmission, it should bolt up to any rb engine.
secondly, no rb engines in a fwd car unless you somehow convert it to rwd.
third, a vq engine will swap into a rwd car as long as you get a new driveshaft and keep the tranny when you pull it out of the donor car.
4th, all nissan sports car chassis (skyline, silvia, sentra, not maxima) are the same with little modifcations, this is called platform engineering. it cuts costs but also means that engine swaps are easy, as are rwd conversions.
