Killed a 3000gt

Alright, for those of you who don't know, I drive a 1989 300zx turbo 5-spd with a few mods...
It was a pearl white 94-96' model. I didn't think twice to look at the rear bumper for the active aero spoiler to see if it was or wasn't a VR4, but it was a nice race either way, and it went down like this;
Me and my buddy Mendoza are just cruising along in my z, on our way to a concert at a place called Mojo's. Well we had just turned the corner and out of the corner of my eye, I see in my mirror a 3000gt turning the corner, speeding up as if to do a ricer fly by.
"Ohh Hells to the No" I yelled at Mendoza and gunned it in second, (this was a two lane street by the way), and I stopped his advance at my rear bumper. Neither of us gained on eachother until I hit third, at which point I started to gain on him decently. I shifted to fourth and I had to get in his lane to avoid the car in front of me, at which point I went back in my lane so not to miss my exit. I gently pushed down the brakes and he caught up (I was about 2 maybe 3 car lengths ahead at this point). He cruised with me for a moment and we both just laughed, he gave me a thumbs up, but I didn't have a chance to do the same becuase I had to stop and make a left hand turn into the Mojo's parking lot.
Over all, I thought it was a decent run, considering we were both carrying a passenger and also the fact that I have a boost/vaccum leak that I thought was taken care of, but really fucks me over in 3rd gear.
Cliff notes: stopped what I thought might be a ricer fly-by and ended up having a fun quickie with a 3000gt.

Could possibly have been a VR-4 i know from a roll if I go to race I need to downshift quick to take advantage of the higher rpms and to get some quick spool going, if im rolling (which is normally faster than most) and someone drops the hammer next to me it takes a second or two to spool back up. However once I do you can normally read the VR-4 emblem on the bumper to know what im driving. Good run...

Nice kill. Do you remember what wheels it had, that could help figure out the trim. I personally thought it was a vr4 when I read it. I would think it would have been a bit faster, being a 2nd gen, but if you are modded, or it hasn't gotten a tuneup recently, it could be pretty even like you described.

Nice kill! Maybe it was a VR-4 but usually it's the non-turbo 3/s always racing:grinyes:. Us non F/I 3's guys are always trying to race:naughty:
Not trying to hi-jack but this old man with a Black 97 VR-4 looks exactly like mine but his a VR-4, anywayz he wouldn't bite when I paced him. Kept on egging him but he didn't do nothing:screwy: . I wanted to see that thing fly:evillol:

Did it have chrome wheels (stock)? Because if it did there is about 96% chance it was a VR4 if they were. Stock chrome rims on the N/a's are a rarity.

It was in my mirror for about 95% of the time, so I can't really remeber if they were chromes or not
