Hello,

My mother has a 2002 Ford Focus SE / 4 Door that she has lost all the paper work, vehicle manual and the vehicle information in the door frame has faded. She has recently been divorced and I'm taking over the maintenance for here car. This is the information I have

It is a 2.0L SPI engine that uses 5w20. When I was at Wal-Mart the computer brings up three engine types.

1. 2.0L 8V SPI
2. 2.0L 16V SPI
3. 2.0L 16V Zetec (I know it is not this one)

Anyone that can help me identify the engine type I will appreciate it.

Thanks

Thx,

However, how do you know it is the 16V and not the 8V? Wouldn't a SOHC mean 8V and the DOHC have 16V?

Nope theres 16v SOHC motors. However my awnser wasn't right, I know theres 16v SPI's and I was 100% sure they were used in the Focues but the more I research its seems that they are indeed 8v, Sorry about that.

pre98zetec,

I apreciate your help; however, looks like Ford used both engines for the SE model. I found a VIN decoder on the Ford Fleet website that extracts the engine code.

Thanks Again
