I'm going to look at a 2002 corolla tomorrow and was wondering that if the car never came with the tach how hard it is to put one in, is it just a plug and play? i know in a lot of cars you just pull the old dash out and you can simply plug the new one in and everything works, and help on this is appricated (it's a 5 spd.)

you could get a new one with the tach or just simply install an aftermarket tach...but it your after a stock look then you might be able to get it to work just by plugging it in...if not then you are gonna have to plug in the tach wire to either the igniton coil or the harness for a tach hook up...easy thing to do though

I recently did the swap to the new guage cluster with a tach! it was easy and pluged right in! but the key was to unscrew the little screws that held my speedo and odometer from my origional cluster and install it in the new cluster so it would read my origional mileage! also the display at ther bottom of the tach will say "-E" instead of outsaide temp but according to toyota therew was only two wiring harnesses for the car, with ABS and without ABS so i still need to look behind my dash to see if the plug is hidden behind there to get the outside temp to work! good luck hope i provided enuf info!
