Cant get over 9psi of boost

OK guys, my car has been fixed and everything is running great. I have been driving it for 2 days now and it looks like its running great. I have a Greddy Profec E-01 and it shows that I cant get over 9psi. I turned it to 13 but I cant get over 9psi. This is the manual. Its installed correctly. There too many options in this thing, select boost , boost overtake and all other boost questions. I am clueless of what to do.

Any one here has one of these ? I think Ez with the green 95 GSX has one. Any imput will be helpful since there arent any shops around here for tunning. I want to run my car at around 15psi which is stock boost. SAFC2 is on the way, since I am running a little rich.

Kevin (95_gsxracer) might be able to help you out with this, or EZ if he has one. Other than that, I don't think many people around here run the Profec. Maybe try searcing the forums on dsmtuners.com. Someone there will likely have one that could lend a hand.

Sounds like a leaky BOV or pressure related boost leak. I think the BOV is shot and just lets out pressure at 9 psi. Or possibly a cut or something in like the rubber part of the IC pipes that maybe doesnt open until a certain pressure is being put on it. I dont know though, sorry if this doesnt make much sense. I've been awake for the last 62 hours on 6-7 hours of sleep.

Thor I think your right with the leaky BOV, although it could be other things, this seems to make the most sense. It probably can hold boost well enough until 9psi and then just lets go. I say trash that POS and at the very least get a crushed 1g.

6-7 hours is enought sleep

But what you mean trash it, I paid like $120 for it used on DSM tuners. Its the Type RS whatever, most realiable. Not a knock off or anything, I mean, 1G BOV vs Greddy Type RS. I just got the adapter for it from EBAY since I could not find a flage anywhere else but its not leaking or anything.

Older pic but BOV is in there

Sorry I didn't realize that you were running the Greddy BOV, I thought you were still on the stocker. Looks like its boost leak test time for you.

It would take a massive leak to limit someone to 9 psi. The car would have to sound like an emergency bomb siren or something. :D I would stick to the boost controller for now. I've run the original Profec B, and the newer B Type S, but not the spec 2 or E01. The two former models are very simple, the latter are far from it. Hopefully someone that uses it will come along, but I seem to remember someone posting a user guide for the Spec 2, perhaps some of that will apply to the E01?

Jusst as a side not I have the type Rs and i've had no boost leaks or any problems of that sorth with it. (Which is truly amazing since I installed it myself lol). Haha by the by my lower intercooler pipe came off today and gave me a scare NOW THATS A BOOST LEAK LOL

just to throw in my two cents, since you're running LESS than the stock wastegate setting I would look at a severe boost leak, or a wastegate opening prematurely

How do you know you don't have any boost leaks, have you done a pressure test? Or do you just "think" you don't have any leaks like most everyone else?

are you talking to me?

Yea that pic I made intentionally big just to mess around (thanks for showing me how to upload) anyways. I did the old soap test. And just by my boost gauge and pressure testing I'm pretty certain. But I only tested to 15 psi.

Well as long as you did a boost leak (pressure test) and it held then you should be fine, but your boost gauge is not a good indicator of a boost leak.

I would just do a leak-down test. go to home depot and make yourself one, they are easy. Like kevin said, it would have to be a huge leak, but maybe a leak and something else is contributing to your 9psi. Just rule out any leaks by a leak down, then look into the more difficult things.

Sorry i didn't see this post earlier. Yeah i have the profec e-01. It's on my talon and i haven't used it in a while. Are you sure the "valve unit" is hooked up for an internal wastegate? Also make sure the hole for the external wastegate is closed off. It could be hooked up wrong or a problem with the car not hldin boost for one reason but that was already discussed. You can go to greddy.com for the same manual in pdf it's a little easier to read.
