o2 sensor

I have a 89 caprice with a 305 that i have gutted the cat on and was wondering if anyone can tell me where I can find a dummy o2 sensor. I have also seen online where some people have made them from parts from radio shack, I would be happy doing that if someone can give me some info on it.

I hope you're not serious - removing the oxygen sensor will disable the computer and screw your fuel injection. Hint: It's not there for emissions - it's there for the fuel injection.

Your cat has nothing to do with how the EGO sensor operates. The EGO sensor is in the left exhaust manifold.

Agreed with silicon212. The signals from your oxygen sensor is what allows your computer on your fuel injected vehicle to go from open loop to closed loop mode, which allows the engine to run much better and with better fuel economy. Without the oxygen sensor, you computer would cause your fuel injected vehicle to always act like it just started up.

The only time you need a "dummy" o2 sensor is when you have an OBD 2 system with a post cat o2 sensor. The post cat sensor is there to monitor how well the catalytic converter is working. On a 93 caprice you have OBD 1, with only the sensor before the cat. The o2 sensor before the cat (in the manifold) is used to analyze the emissions in order to see if it needs to richen, or lean the fuel. So if you hollowed out your cat, it shouldn't have any effect on your o2 sensor. You dont need a dummy o2.
