Fuel sending unit/ pump question

Either my car suddenly got OUSTANDING hybrid-like gas mileage *wishful thinking* or my fuel sending unit has gone out! I filled up an hour out of town before coming back, and I noticed the needle shot about 1/8 inch beyond the "F" mark! Then after driving 64 miles back home, the needle only moved a little below the "F", and now 108 miles later, I "still have" over 3/4 a tank left:screwy:
My question is if it is advised or recommended I change the fuel pump/ strainer at the same time as the sending unit? The pump's fine, I have perfect fuel delivery. Should I spend a couple hundred bucks for the whole package, and while I have the tank pulled out, kill 2 birds with one stone, or save the money? I'd hate for the pump to go out next in a few months and then have to make another trip underneath that huge fuel tank! Thanks for the tips!

My advice would be, like my Hispanic friends in Texas use to say, "Don’t worry about it"!
MY PA will go above full when I fill the tank up to the neck, and will stay above ¾ for about 150 miles. After it gets to that point, it seems to move down faster. It still is getting 18-20 mpg around town, no matter what the gauge reads. Don't spend money unless you have to!:grinno:
