hum/vibration

this has been going on since i put the car back on the road in the spring. Ive been neglecting to post about it becasue its kind of hard to explain. Hopefully i can describe it good enough so you guys can give me some suggestions.

Its a hum or a vibration coming from/near the passenger front. It sounds almost like my tire is rubbing something, but i checked my clearences and its no where near. So rule out tire rub. (even though i did put on the new wheels and tires)

It happens sometimes when im hard on the throttle, around 3-4k revs.
It happens sometimes when im letting off the throttle just barely (like when my bypass valve would just start to open).
Sometimes it doesnt happen.

Would the bypass valve cause such a sound if something is wrong? I cant be positive of the area its coming from because i cant listen under the hood while driving, and it doesnt happen in neutral (cant get the BPV to open in neutral anyway). The BPV sounds like its working normally. I hear the turbos spool as i rev, then at shift i hear the "PSSHHhhhhh...".

To try and more acurately describe the sound, imagive a board being run over a table saw. Its that sort of patten of sound, only not as high pitched or sharp. Like dragging a wrench on the tread of a tire spinning fast. Lasts for about 3 seconds (unless i let off the gas, then it stops quicker)

well thats really the best i can describe it. any questions ask away. thanks for any info you guys.

could be your pads dragging on your rotor, or the calliper freazing up, my z's been doing that lately.

I'm almost thinking it's your stock BOV leaking. Mine made a very odd noise when it did. First time I heard it, I was doing a 3rd gear pull at 4k rpms, and thought I broke something. Almost like something heavy being pulled across a tile floor. Hard to describe, but many say it sounds like an owl hooting. Ever remember in elementary school, when you tried moving your desk or chair across one of those floors, and it gave a weird dull vibrating sound, kinda low-pitched. It sounds alot like that. That would be the BOV leaking.

I think I had a sound like that... Try this out:

Turn the car on some high speed left turns and see if the sound occurs consistantly or not on the corner... If you hear the sound the right bearing has probably worn out.

ive tried to get it to happen by throwing the car around a little (thinking maybe the rim was hitting the caliper)...no dice. The only times ive ever heard it i was going strait or near strait.

thanks for the relitively good news though guys...i plan on new pads/rotors soon anyways, so if its that, no big deal. And if its the stock BOV, i cant imagine thats an expensive part, hell, maybe ill even get an upgrade. so...relatively good news lol

thanks guys...keep the ideas coming if you got 'em
