Ok, my transmission seems to be failing, so I had my buddie's dad check it out cause he's a certified mechanic. I told him how the transmission takes forever to shift and how it shifts if I let off the gas, then push it again. So he said he knew what was wrong before I even let him see it. Apparently it's a cable on the same piece as the throttle cable. It's a little smaller than the throttle cable and has a small metal piece like a nut on the end. So, it's supposed to go with the throttle when I push it, but it just sits there. At least that's what I think it's supposed to do. That's why I'm on here. I need to know if that's what the cable does when you press the throttle. So if anyone can tell me what the cable does so I know if mine is working that would be great. I'd have someone I know do it, but I don't know anybody with a car like mine except for an 87 Trans Am and it's different. So if someone could check for me and let me know that would be great.

I don't see how the cruise cable would affect shifting they way you are describing it. Sounds to me like the transmission is just not shifting properly.

The TV (throttle valve) cable is what he was talking about, it controls shifting according to the position of the throttle arm.

Ah, ok that makes much more sense.

They still used TV cables in 1994?
