CrankShaft Position Sensor

Can anyone tell me where the CPS on the 420A engine is located?

I removed most of the stuff to pull the timing cover from the block to look down inside for it (engine is not in vehicle), the only thing left to actually remove the timing cover is to remove the crank pulley/harmonic balancer.

A diagram of its location would be great.

thanks in advance!

It's on the oil filter bracket on the backside of the engine. Be careful when taking it out because it breaks easily.

Go to dsm3d.com and download the engine illustration.

Thanks.

I cannot get it to download. Keeps saying "The compressed (zipped) folder is invalid or corrupt."

Talk to david_b about that. He was the one that made dsm3d.

Are you talking about the CPS (crankshaft position sensor) or the CAS (cam angle sensor?

Hey, my name is mentioned.

DSM3D.com took a hit awhile back. Sad, but I think it was a turbo guy. lol. j/k.

Seriously though, if you lay down in front of the car and move back past the block, you will see the oil filter hanging down. Right above that on the side of the block is the CPS. It has an electrical connector on it. Kinda looks like a TPS from the side.

Sometimes and sometimes not. IDK what the deal is. I'm oging to wipe the server and start over. I'm actually working on a more "secure" version of the site. Alot better too. The turbo version was put on hold because of school this last semester. It's hard doing animation projects, PHP and database programming projects, CSS/XHTML projects, Economics papers, Network Projects, working my job, and still have a life. It was put on hold. I've been meaing to bust out the goods get cracking on it again. I should this week for sure.

I found it, thanks

TeamRedline23 - On the GST 4G63 engine the Crank Sensor is next to the crank shaft under the timing belt cover - lot of work involved in changing it, from what I can see, in the 4G63 engines.....

On the front of the engine (timing belt side) right next to the crankshaft. You'll have to pull the timing cover and all that good stuff to get to it.

EDIT: I guess dksob beat me to it. Didn't see his post.
